Meanwhile, Datta Yadav, a contractor, had travelled all the way from Bengaluru to the border village of Harihordula in Sepahijala district, Tripura, where their long-awaited meeting finally took place.

The initial joy of their reunion, a culmination of months of dreams and anticipation, was tragically short-lived. Vigilant Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, acting on a tip-off, spotted the couple near the Harihordula border area. Their dream transformed into a painful reality as both Gulshana and Datta were swiftly detained and handed over to the Madhupur police station.

On Thursday, July 10, 2025, they were produced in court and subsequently remanded in 14-day judicial custody. Police have registered specific cases against them under the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act, and the recently enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
