British Bangladesh Chamber Inaugurates New London Leadership

The British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BBCCI) marked a significant milestone with the formal inauguration of its London Regional Committee at the historic Guildhall in London. Speakers at the prestigious event expressed optimism that this new committee will further consolidate the business unity and leadership of expatriate Bangladeshis across the United Kingdom.

The ceremony, skillfully moderated by  Mansur Ali, Councilman of the City of London Corporation, was presided over by the newly elected President of the BBCCI London Regional Committee, Md. Monir Ahmed.

Lord Rami Ranger FRSA, a distinguished member of the British Parliament's House of Lords, graced the event as the chief guest. Lord Ranger commended the significant contributions of Bangladeshi-origin entrepreneurs to the UK economy, particularly within the restaurant sector and various other industries. He emphasized the importance of establishing a strong foundation within one's own community before gradually expanding business ventures. Lord Ranger also urged established entrepreneurs to step forward and encourage the new generation to engage and participate in business.

Councilman Mansur Ali highlighted the timely nature of the Regional Committee's inauguration for expatriate Bangladeshis. He stated that it would play a pivotal role in nurturing future leadership among business owners and further solidify the community's economic base.

In his inaugural address, Md. Monir Ahmed, the newly elected President of the London Regional Committee, outlined their objectives: "Our goal will be to serve expatriate Bangladeshi businesses more effectively and in a more organized manner. With all committee members, we will play an effective role in the development of London's expatriate business community. Transparency, accountability, and teamwork will be our core principles."Mohammed Rafiq Haider, President of the BBCCI, and the main speaker at the event, affirmed, "The unity, cooperation, and participation of our expatriate entrepreneurs are the core strengths of BBCCI. I believe that the new leadership being inaugurated for the London Region today will further energize the organization's activities."

The event saw the presence of notable figures including London Assembly Member Unmesh Desai, Speaker of Tower Hamlets Borough Councillor Suluk Ahmed, former Mayor of Brent Council Parvez Ahmed, Councillor Rahima Rahman, former General Secretary of Greater Sylhet Council Mirza Ashhab Beg, and General Secretary of London Bangla Press Club Taisir Mahmud.Among the chamber's leadership, speeches were delivered by BBCCI President Rafiq Haider, former Presidents Bashir Ahmed BEM and Sayedur Rahman Renu, Vice Presidents Abul Hayat Nuruzzaman and Kuti Miah, Finance Director Helal Uddin Khan, Deputy Director General Emdad Ahmed, Membership Secretary Md. Abdul Munim, Press and Publicity Director Misbah Ahmed Chowdhury, Muhib Uddin Chowdhury, Dr. Sanawor Chowdhury, Musleh Ahmed, Shafiqul Islam, Councillor Jahangir Alam, Golam Kibria Owes, Abul Kalam Azad, and East of England Region President Dr. Shahanur Khan.

The newly elected Secretary General, Tofazzal Alam, introduced the members of the London Regional Committee. The new committee comprises: President Md. Monir Ahmed, Secretary General Tofazzal Alam, Treasurer Md. Mahbubul Alam Khan, Senior Vice President Shamsul Arefin, Vice Presidents Gulzar Khan and Mohammad Wahidur Rahman, Joint Secretary Abu Sufian Jhilon, Joint Treasurer Md. Nazmul Haque Bishal, Membership Secretary Shoeb Kabir, Organizing Secretary Md. Ali Hussain, Office Secretary Hafsa Noor, Press and Publicity Secretary Md. Abdullah Mamun, Sports Secretary Abdul Anwar Khan, and Executive Members Md. Khairul Islam Bhani, Sayedul Islam Haldar, Aswar Ali, and Dr. Masuk Ahmed.

The new leadership collectively stated their commitment to working together to transform the London region into a well-organized, effective, and representative business platform. Their primary objective is to provide consultancy, networking, and coordination for expatriate Bangladeshi entrepreneurs.

Vice President Gulzar Khan concluded the event with a vote of thanks, affirming the new committee's relentless efforts to foster business unity and mutual cooperation. Attendees extended their best wishes to the new committee and expressed anticipation for greater community participation in future initiatives.
