Khaleda Zia May Head to London

Unconfirmed reports are circulating that Begum Khaleda Zia, Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former Prime Minister, may soon travel to London again for medical treatment. The speculation suggests that a decision for her follow-up treatment was made based on the advice of her medical board, and the BNP has reportedly sought assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding this potential trip.

However, despite these widespread rumors, there has been no official confirmation of this news. No responsible source within the BNP has yet verified the matter.

Regarding this matter, Maruf Kamal Khan, a close journalist to Khaleda Zia and her former press secretary, told to Daily Dazzling Dawn from Dhaka: "I haven't received any such news. However, I have heard that someone might be offering such advice [about traveling abroad] because her health suddenly deteriorated that night.

Adding to the uncertainty, there's ongoing speculation about the return of the party's acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, who is currently in London. Previously, Dr. Zahid Hossain, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, had indicated that Tarique Rahman might return to Bangladesh immediately after the announcement of the election schedule. He had described Tarique Rahman's return as "only a matter of time."

It is worth noting that Begum Khaleda Zia last traveled to London for medical treatment on January 8th, where she remained for approximately four months. During that time, doctors reportedly opted against any major medical interventions due to her age and physical condition, focusing instead on adjusting medication dosages and conducting diagnostic tests.
