The persistent rumors suggesting that ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has departed India for Dubai or another third country have been officially dismissed by high-level sources close to her immediate family.
Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, a prominent leader of the UK Awami League and the former Mayor of Sylhet, has categorically dismissed reports of Sheikh Hasina’s departure for Dubai. He confirmed that the former Prime Minister remains in India, labeling the claims of her relocation as entirely baseless rumors.
Despite a surge of speculative reports circulating across social media platforms over the last forty-eight hours, Jamal Ahmad Khan, a prominent United Kingdom Awami League leader with direct ties to Sheikh Rehana’s family, confirmed late Wednesday London time that the former premier remains on Indian soil.
Addressing the misinformation, Mr. Khan questioned the logic behind such a move, categorically stating that the reports of her traveling to Dubai for even a short duration are entirely baseless. This clarification comes at a time when the whereabouts of the former leader have become a focal point of regional diplomatic intrigue following her resignation and sudden departure from Dhaka on August 5, 2024.
Sheikh Hasina has now spent over four months in India under heavy security protocols. While the Indian government has maintained a high degree of confidentiality regarding her exact coordinates for security reasons, it is widely understood that she is being housed in a secure government bungalow within the National Capital Region of Delhi.
Joining Sheikh Hasina there is her daughter, Saima Wazed, who is a frequent visitor to Delhi. It is also understood that her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, travels from London to India to spend time with her, Daily Dazzling Dawn realized.
The Government of India has been deliberate in its official communication regarding her presence. These digital interactions suggest that while she remains in a secure, secluded environment in India, she continues to exert a level of influence over her party’s remaining infrastructure through secure telecommunication channels.
