The Sylheti Parganatit New Year 1436 was celebrated in Sylhet with great enthusiasm. To mark the occasion, a colorful rally (Ananda Michil) was brought out from the front of the Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar. After parading through the key streets of the city, the rally concluded at the 'Sylheti Nagri Chattar' in front of Surma Market with closing remarks.
In their opening and closing speeches, the speakers emphasized that the primary goal of reintroducing the 'Sylheti Parganatit' era—an ancient local calendar of the Sylhet region—is to raise awareness among the indigenous Sylheti people about their unique heritage, history, and culture. They stated that by educating the history-averse generation about their roots and encouraging them to practice and preserve their traditions, a flourishing Sylheti culture can be firmly established.
Key speakers at the event included Mohammed Dilwar Husen, the founding convener of the "Sylheti Language Recognition Movement" (Sylheti Bhasha Swikriti Andolon), current convener Sajid Mia, member secretary Suez Hossain, and joint conveners Khairul Alam Suman and Aminul Islam Sohag. Other prominent attendees included Khandaker Shafiul Islam, Habibur Rahman, Irtiza Said, Tanvir Chowdhury, and Anwar Hossain, among others.
