LSCI Takes Its Place in History Alongside Parliament’s 325-Year Legacy
  • Academic excellence recognised in official History of Parliament publication

The London School of Commerce & IT has secured its place in a landmark historical publication commemorating 325 years of parliamentary sovereignty, in a recognition that underscores the institution's growing influence within the United Kingdom's higher education sector.

Mr Nasrullah Khan Junaid, Chief Executive Officer, and Ms Hasina Haque, Principal of LSCI, were among an exclusive gathering of trustees, parliamentarians, and distinguished contributors who convened within the hallowed grounds of Westminster Abbey for the official launch of Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership. The invitation-only event, co-hosted by the History of Parliament Trust, drew senior figures from both Houses of Parliament and offered a moment of reflection on the constitutional settlement that reshaped the British state. The publication, produced in partnership with the publisher St James's House, an imprint within the SJH Group, marks a significant milestone in documenting the evolution of Crown and Parliament since the landmark Act of Settlement 1701. The launch event, which took place in June, also incorporated the London Press Club Summer Garden Party, attended by more than 300 senior figures from the UK's leading media organisations, and included a celebration of the life of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In a development that has generated considerable interest among the academic community, LSCI has been prominently featured within the commemorative hardback, with a dedicated two-page spread occupying pages 334 and 335. The substantial entry highlights the institution's trajectory over the past two decades, documenting its achievements and articulating its strategic vision for the future. This inclusion places LSCI alongside a select group of organisations invited to participate based on their relevance to the project's core themes of leadership, innovation, sustainability, and governance. The book, written by a team of prominent academics and award-winning authors including royal experts Robert Jobson, Russell Myers, and Katie Nicholl, traces the shifts in power across British history, from the constitutional settlement of 1701 through to the transformative political and social changes witnessed over the past century. The publication is being distributed on a controlled-circulation basis to key political, institutional, and educational audiences across the UK, Europe, and the Commonwealth, with a complimentary digital edition also being made available.

The recognition of LSCI within this prestigious historical project comes at a time of considerable momentum for the institution. The school's commitment to academic excellence and innovation has been increasingly acknowledged across the sector, with its growing contribution to higher education now receiving this formal recognition through the History of Parliament Trust's official publication. The inclusion has been interpreted by observers as a reflection of the institution's strengthened position within the UK's educational landscape, and a recognition of its role in shaping the future of learning and leadership. In an era where the relationship between governance, democracy, and education continues to evolve, LSCI's presence in this historical document underscores the institution's commitment to the principles of representative government and democratic leadership that have defined British parliamentary tradition for over three centuries. Daily Dazzling Dawn understands that the recognition represents the culmination of years of dedicated work by the institution's leadership team. Mr Khan's vision for LSCI's development and Ms Haque's stewardship of its academic programmes have positioned the institution as a significant contributor to the higher education sector, a fact now recorded for posterity in this official parliamentary record.

Dr Jennifer Davey, Director at the History of Parliament Trust, told to journalist that the book explores the history and evolution of UK and Commonwealth governance and the shift to a constitutional monarchy, while also profiling organisations invited to join the project based on their relevance to leadership, innovation, sustainability, and governance. The publication, which marks one of the most significant pieces of legislation in British history, the Act of Settlement 1701, documents the shifts in power that have shaped modern Britain, culminating in the far-reaching political and social changes of the past century.

Stephen van der Merwe, a Group Director at the SJH Group, told to journalist that through in-depth interviews with organisational leaders and by spotlighting their work, Monarchy and Democracy provides a compelling, first-hand perspective on how today's leaders are shaping the future across education, governance, charitable work, enterprise, and industry.

As LSCI continues to advance its mission of academic excellence and innovation, this historical recognition serves as both a validation of past achievements and a foundation upon which the institution's future ambitions can be built. The two-page spread in this official parliamentary publication ensures that LSCI's contribution to higher education will be preserved as part of the historical record for generations to come.
