An international flight ticket became the final piece of evidence exposing a calculated bid for evasion after an intelligent student visa holder turned into a violent predator on British streets.

Court details reveal how the rapid response of Sussex Police's "Operation Blyth" team successfully prevented a high-risk offender from escaping the reaches of UK justice. Suleman Mukaish, a 27-year-old Pakistani national residing on Cambridge Road in Worthing, was systematically tracked down and intercepted by border officials at London Gatwick Airport just 48 hours after committing a horrific sexual assault. He had already boarded the transit infrastructure with a one-way ticket booked to Pakistan, intending to slip away before forensic results could link him to the crime.

The investigation established that on the evening of March 11, an extremely vulnerable woman in her 20s exited Worthing Hospital on Lyndhurst Road in a state of confusion, intoxication, and physical instability. Mukaish, who was highly educated with a Master's degree in computer science, was operating as a delivery driver and cycling home from his shift when he crossed paths with the distressed stranger. Rather than providing genuine assistance, Mukaish chose to exploit her lack of capacity, forcefully grabbing her by the arm and guiding her into the adjacent car park.

Despite the victim attempting to anchor herself to a wall to resist his advances, Mukaish forced her onto the bonnet of a parked vehicle and raped her. He then left her at the scene, where a witness returning to a nearby vehicle discovered her in a severely compromised physical and mental state and contacted emergency services. Specialized forensic officers combed the vehicle identified by the victim, discovering an irrefutable trail of handprints and fingerprints that directly isolated Mukaish as the sole perpetrator.

Following his swift apprehension at Gatwick Airport, Mukaish initially demonstrated absolute defiance. Body-worn video captured by arresting officers showed Mukaish feigning confusion, asking "Why, sir?" when requested to produce his passport, before subsequently delivering a strict "no comment" interview to detectives while submitting a prepared statement denying the allegations.

However, his legal defense collapsed when presented with the overwhelming forensic portfolio gathered by Sussex Police. During the judicial proceedings, it emerged that Mukaish—who arrived in the United Kingdom on a student visa with extended graduate leave intended to last until 2028—attempted to justify his actions by claiming the victim requested money, which he offered under a transactional understanding of sexual entitlement. This narrative was thoroughly rejected during sentencing at Hove Crown Court. Judge Christine Henson KC emphasized that his attempt to commodify the encounter only reinforced a deeply dangerous attitude of sexual entitlement, confirming that the psychological impact on the victim has been immense, leaving her with profound flashbacks and a fear of contracting medical complications.

Faced with an airtight prosecution, Mukaish ultimately entered a formal guilty plea to the single count of rape. He has been sentenced to 11 years and three months, comprising a custodial term of eight years and three months behind bars, with an extended three years to be served on licence due to his assessment as a high-risk offender.

Because Mukaish is a foreign national holding graduate visa status rather than permanent citizenship, the lengthy custodial sentence triggers automatic deportation protocols under UK immigration laws. Upon the completion of his prison term, the Home Office will initiate formal deportation proceedings to return the convicted specialist to Pakistan, permanently revoking his right to reside or work within the United Kingdom.
