Tragic UK Seaside Accident: British-Bangladeshi Mother and Daughter Drown While Rescuing Child

A British-Bangladeshi mother and her 15-year-old daughter tragically lost their lives on Wednesday afternoon after drowning off the coast near Colchester, UK, while attempting to rescue a young child.

Although local reports initially indicated three casualties, Daily Dazzling Dawn confirmed two fatalities in the incident.

Abul Kalam Azad, Convenor of UK BNP, and Khosruzzaman Khosru, Member Secretary, confirmed to Daily Dazzling Dawn that at least two individuals have died. The family was enjoying a summer holiday trip to the seaside when the heartbreaking accident occurred. Other injured family members were airlifted to a London hospital via helicopter.

The deceased woman was the daughter of Mujibur Rahman—former Vice President of UK BNP hailing from Chhatak Upazila—making him the grandfather of the teenage girl. The mother was also the wife of UK Jubo Dal leader Dr. Mansur Rahman, son of Sylhet BNP leader Sheikh Makhan Mia.

When contacted for a statement, the grief-stricken father, Mujibur Rahman, confirmed to Daily Dazzling Dawn that he was present at the scene but was too overwhelmed to speak further.

Our source confirmed that, the tragedy occurred due to an incoming high tide at West Mersea. The family was sitting near the shoreline when a six-year-old child was suddenly swept away by strong currents. Rushing into the water to save the child, both the mother and daughter tragically drowned.

Emergency Response & Public Safety Warnings- Local residents have been advised to avoid Seaview Avenue and the adjacent beach area while emergency crews remain on site.

HM Coastguard helicopters were seen circling the area, and eyewitnesses reported seeing a lifeboat launched into the sea to assist in the rescue operation.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) confirmed that alongside the West Mersea inshore lifeboat, two lifeboats from the Clacton-on-Sea station were deployed to respond to the situation.

A spokesperson for Essex Police stated: "Emergency services are currently responding to an ongoing incident in West Mersea, Colchester. We kindly ask the public to avoid Seaview Avenue and the surrounding beach area while officers and rescue personnel remain at the scene."
