The handover ceremony of China's emergency dengue relief goods to Bangladesh was held here on Tuesday. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen presented aid to Bangladesh Minister of Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque at the ceremony, and said China and Bangladesh are true friends, sharing happy, unhappy and close neighbors who always help each other. Bangladesh has recorded a total of 1,425 deaths from dengue fever out of 283,593 cases this year, according to data from the Bangladesh Ministry of Health. In his speech, Maleque said these supplies were necessary to fight the epidemic and recalled that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese side also provided vaccines to Bangladesh. In addition, Maleque added, the two sides also established cooperation on the burn department of Chittagong Medical University Hospital in Bangladesh. For his part, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen said the relevant agencies of the two governments remain in close contact and cooperate effectively to ensure quick access and timely deployment of supplies emergency from China. Yao said the Chinese Embassy donated a batch of dengue kits to Enam University Hospital, stressing that China will continue to “strengthen cooperation with Bangladesh in the health sector and bring more tangible benefits for the people of both countries. Yao also added that last week, a digital infrastructure pilot site for cardiovascular diseases sponsored by the Chinese Embassy was officially launched at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
