Türkiye has imposed a ban on the export of goods to Israel. The news agency Reuters reported this information citing the country's Ministry of Commerce.
On Tuesday, the Turkish Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that until a cease-fire is reached in Gaza, a ban has been imposed on the export of goods to Israel. There are 54 different categories of products under the ban.
However, Türkiye did not say when this ban will be effective. The statement said that this decision will be implemented soon.
Earlier, Turkey requested Israel to drop relief from the plane in Gaza, Palestine. But Israel did not respond to that request. An angry Türkiye then said that they will take action against Israel soon. It is believed that the Turkish government imposed a ban on the export of goods to Israel as a countermeasure against Turkey's rejection of the request.
Iron and steel products are among the products covered by the ban, Turkey's trade ministry said. Apart from this, there are different types of parts.
Israel launched a brutal attack on Gaza in October last year. Since then, Türkiye has been condemning Israel. However, trade relations with Israel have not been severed. This is the first trade ban Türkiye has imposed since the start of the Israel-Hamas war.
