Illegal immigration is rampant in the UK, but the current government is taking practical steps to combat it at its source and put an end to it. Keir Starmer makes decisions.

Illegal immigrants frequently enter via small boat, crossing the English Channel. From January to April of this year, more over 7,000 illegal immigrants landed by small boat. According to the UK Parliament, some illegal immigrants use other illegal channels, such as overstaying visas.According to the UK Prime Minister, these funds will be used for education, health care, and humanitarian assistance. Starmer wants to find out why individuals are relocating. 

According to the UK Parliament's House of Lords Library, around 40,000 illegal foreign nationals have entered the UK since March 2023. 

Visa applications for asylum seekers are “deemed inadmissible” by the Illegal Migration Act. A person entered the country illegally, according to the UK Parliament. 

Starmer stated that challenges encountered by foreign nationals visiting the UK can be evident on local streets. "It echos at home, and the effects play out in our streets…," Starmer told reporters.

Starmer stated that the Labour government would revise the strategy by "resetting the approach."

The UK is claimed to be collaborating with agencies such as Europol to gain a better understanding of illegal immigration operations. Starmer has also chosen his Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, to oversee the situation. 

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office will roll out up to £84 million funding over the next 3 years to address the reasons for illegal migration.
