Thousands of British tourists heading to Spain are facing passport warnings due to passport stamping issues at the Lanzarote airport. Spanish police are cracking down, but the airport lacks resources to handle the extra workload.
Speaking to El Diario de Lanzarote, they said the pressure on staff is particularly bad on Thursdays, when lots of flights depart for the UK.
It’s feared some Brits will be stamped when they arrive but not when they leave.
If this occurs, it may appear that they have exceeded the 90-day stay limit for British nationals in EU countries.
Since Brexit, British travelers are no longer able to enjoy the EU's right to free movement.
The Foreign Office has instructed all Britons to ensure that their passports are stamped upon departing.
