In what appears to have been a planned attack on Saturday morning, two men were shot in southwestern Sydney.

When police and paramedics arrived at Highfield Park near Claymore at around 9.30 am, they found a guy with gunshot wounds to his head and chest.

Not so long ago, police were also called to a nearby store in response to a complaint that a man had been shot in the torso and was seeking medical attention.

Both men were treated at the scene and rushed to Liverpool Hospital.

Police said on Saturday afternoon that their conditions were unknown.

There is still a large police presence at the scene, which has been taped off.

The incident has sparked a major investigation.

NSW Police said initial inquiries had indicated the incident was a targeted shooting.
