According to figures, the current state of affairs in Bangladesh has resulted in a minimum 91% decrease in outward travel, as stated by representatives of the Travel Operators Association of Bangladesh.

About two weeks ago, in response to growing student protests, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the nation, making matters worse. Temporary flight interruptions and the suspension of all visas save those for medical reasons resulted from this. Even though flights are now back on schedule, a representative of a low-cost airline that flies to Dhaka said that the number of passengers on these flights has dropped by more than half.

Despite a 43.5% increase in 2023, the number of visitors to India is still 15.5% lower than it was before to the pandemic. 9.23 million tourists visited the nation last year, earning Rs 24,707 crore in foreign currency. More than 22.5 percent of these tourists were from Bangladesh, making up the highest amount of any one nationality.Medical tourism from Bangladesh to India increased significantly in 2023, accounting for 449,570 patients, up from 304,067 the year before. This represents a huge 48% increase.

A founder and chief executive of a medical tourism company based in Kolkata told to Daily Dazzling Dawn that his organisation used to handle about 150 patients from Bangladesh each month. But because so many appointments have been cancelled, he has seen a sharp drop in patients, with just five or six now seeing each month.
