British Probe into Bayesian Sinking Begins
The superyacht's sinking is being looked into, as verified by the UK's Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB).
The organization will try to ascertain the incident's facts and causes.
According to PA, a group of four MAIB inspectors visited Porticello today to conduct a "preliminary assessment".
"The MAIB is investigating the foundering of the UK registered large yacht Bayesian off the northern coast of Sicily on 19 August 2024," said the statement.
"It would not be appropriate for the MAIB to comment further while the investigation is ongoing. "
The MAIB are looking into the incident because the Bayesian was flying a British flag - but the Italian Coastguard said the MAIB was not involved in the search and rescue operation and that it did not request assistance.
