Bangladesh records highest daily dengue cases

According to the Ministry of Health, 1,221 persons in Bangladesh were diagnosed with dengue fever in the last 24 hours, which is the most cases in a single day this year. Eight more people lost their lives to the mosquito-borne illness during that time, bringing the total number of fatalities this year to 158. According to the ministry, the number of dengue cases in Bangladesh increased to 29,786 as a result of the new infections. To combat the increasing number of dengue infections, Bangladeshi health authorities have tightened their efforts to prevent mosquito reproduction and carry out anti-larval operations. Dengue fever season runs from June to September during the monsoon season in Bangladesh, a country known for having a high risk of mosquito-borne illnesses. (UNI)
