An Atlantic storm is expected to bring snow and heavy showers to the UK in the coming days. Weather models indicate that England and Wales will experience a mix of snow flurries and downpours.
According to WXCharts data, the storm is set to move over the British Isles on the afternoon of Saturday, March 29. This aligns with the Met Office’s recent warning of “wetter, more unsettled conditions” as March draws to a close. By midday Saturday, heavy rain is forecast to drench parts of Wales and the southeast before shifting further north.
Cities such as Plymouth, Cardiff, Southampton, Berkshire, Worcester, and Birmingham are expected to experience significant rainfall, according to reports from The Mirror. Meanwhile, North Gwynedd in Wales may see snowfall, as suggested by weather maps.
Snow is also likely in areas including Powys, Shropshire, Greater Manchester, Huddersfield, Bradford, and parts of the Yorkshire Dales. WXCharts further predicts persistent rain across much of England and Wales, affecting Liverpool, Bolton, South Wales, Birmingham, Worcester, London, Luton, Southampton, and Somerset, as reported by Birmingham Live. Coastal locations such as Eastbourne, Hastings, and Folkestone could also face showers.
In its long-range forecast from March 26 to April 4, the Met Office noted that while some dry spells with sunshine are expected, unsettled weather could return towards the end of March.
The forecast states: “The final week of March into early April will likely feature a gradually changing weather pattern. Initially, a dry spell is expected, bringing sunshine to many regions. Over time, drier conditions will likely persist in the south, while the north and northwest could see more frequent rain, showers, and windy periods, with a chance of gales in the far northwest. There is also a small chance that these unsettled conditions could briefly become more widespread.
“Overall, temperatures are expected to remain near average, though chilly nights are possible where clear skies and light winds coincide.”
