A military training aircraft crashed on Monday (July 21) in the Milestone College area of Uttara Diabari, Dhaka, during a routine training flight, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The plane went down at approximately 1:20 pm and burst into flames on impact. Fire service teams arrived at 1:22 pm to control the fire, while two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) assisted in rescue operations and crowd management.

The pilot, identified as Flight Lieutenant Tauquir Islam Sagar, was pulled from the wreckage with serious injuries and rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), where his condition is reported as critical.

Mizanur Rahman, an official of Milestone College, said the aircraft crashed into the college grounds, igniting a fire and causing chaos among students and staff. According to updated reports from authorities, two people were killed, including at least one student, and 25 others were injured in the incident. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.

Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud explosion followed by thick smoke and flames rising from the scene. Rescue workers continued clearing debris and assisting victims well into the afternoon.

Senior officials from the Bangladesh Air Force and Dhaka Metropolitan Police visited the site to oversee the response and offer condolences to the victims’ families. Nearby buildings and vehicles also sustained damage from falling debris.

The ISPR announced that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash and promised to release a detailed statement soon. The crash site remains cordoned off as rescue and recovery operations continue.
