  • The latest allegations relate to incidents said to have taken place in London in 2009.

Russell Brand has appeared at Southwark Crown Court to face two additional sexual offence charges, including one count of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The 50-year-old comedian arrived at court wearing a black jacket over an animal-print shirt, along with a hat and sunglasses. The latest charges relate to allegations involving two women and stem from incidents said to have taken place in London in 2009.

Brand has previously denied five separate allegations — two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault — concerning four women. Those alleged incidents are said to have occurred between 1999 and 2005.

The entertainer first appeared in court over the new allegations at Westminster Magistrates’ Court last month. During that hearing, he joined proceedings via video link from Florida, where he currently resides. He confirmed his name and date of birth but did not enter further comments.

A trial connected to the original five charges is scheduled to begin later this year at Southwark Crown Court.

According to earlier court hearings, Brand is accused of raping a woman in a hotel room during a Labour Party conference in Bournemouth. He also faces allegations of sexually assaulting a television worker in a male toilet, as well as claims he forcibly kissed and groped a radio station employee. Another accusation involves an alleged indecent assault after attempting to pull a woman into a male restroom.

The charges followed a joint investigation conducted by Channel 4 and The Sunday Times, during which several women came forward with allegations.

Brand, who also maintains an address in Oxfordshire, continues to deny the accusations. Court proceedings are ongoing.
