Official Status of the Investigation

In the hours following the recovery, authorities have maintained a posture of procedural diligence. A Garda spokesperson confirmed that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death.

At this stage, Gardaí have not released a cause of death. While the post-mortem results are awaited, no official link to Scarlett Faulkner’s death has been established by investigators. The case is currently being treated as a sudden death incident, with no evidence presently suggesting that the two tragedies are legally or forensically connected.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the events at the Abbey River on Sunday evening to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400.

A Community in Disbelief

The news has sent ripples of shock through the Long Pavement area, where Jason was known as a devoted brother and son. Having spent three weeks at his sister’s bedside in Cork University Hospital following a roadside incident in March, his sudden passing has left the community reeling at the immense emotional burden placed upon the family.

Friends and relatives have taken to social media to express their heartbreak, describing Jason as a pillar of strength for his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Faulkner, during the ongoing investigation into Scarlett's death. One family associate described the successive losses as "beyond human comprehension."

What Happens Next

The immediate focus for the authorities remains the completion of the post-mortem, the findings of which will dictate any further action. Funeral arrangements for Jason have not yet been announced.

As the investigation into the incident that claimed Scarlett's life continues, the city of Limerick stands in silent solidarity with a family that has lost two members within just six days.
