A rare albino buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump” has become an unexpected attraction ahead of Eid al-Adha in Bangladesh, drawing crowds of visitors eager to see the unusual animal before it is sacrificed as part of Eid Qurbani.

The nearly 700-kilogram buffalo, raised at a farm in Narayanganj near Dhaka, gained widespread attention because of its striking appearance — particularly its flowing blond hair that falls over its forehead, which many visitors say resembles the signature hairstyle of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The cream-coloured buffalo, with its pinkish nose and pale coat, stands out in Bangladesh where buffaloes are typically dark-skinned. Its unique look quickly turned it into a social media sensation, attracting visitors from different districts who came to take selfies and record videos with the animal.

Farm owner Ziauddin Mridha said the buffalo earned its unusual name from his younger brother.

“My younger brother named the buffalo Donald Trump because the hair on the front of its head resembles Donald Trump,” he said.

Despite its celebrity status, Mridha described the buffalo as calm and gentle.

“It is an albino buffalo, and animals of this type are generally gentle and do not become aggressive unless provoked,” he added.

The owner said the buffalo required intensive care, including four baths and four meals daily, to maintain its health and appearance ahead of Eid.

“It needed extra attention and care every day. The buffalo has already been delivered to a customer for sacrifice during Eid,” he said.

Albino buffaloes are considered rare in Bangladesh, making the animal even more remarkable among thousands of cattle prepared annually for Eid al-Adha, when Muslim families traditionally sacrifice livestock as part of religious observance.

In recent years, unusually large or distinctive sacrificial animals have increasingly become Eid attractions across Bangladesh, often gaining celebrity-inspired names that attract buyers and curious visitors.

Now, with its unusual appearance, gentle nature and viral popularity, one question remains ahead of Eid festivities: will Bangladesh’s famous “Donald Trump” buffalo complete its journey from internet sensation to Eid Qurbani?
