Daily Dazzling Dawn reports on the sad discovery at Lough Erne as police recover a body in the search for missing 31-year-old Lyndsey Rankin. Following a 24-day search operation, police have recovered a body from Lough Erne in the hunt for the missing Tyrone woman. Police have confirmed that human remains were recovered from the Gay Island area of Lower Lough Erne on Monday, June 29, 2026. Formal identification has not yet been completed. However, police have informed the family of Lyndsey Rankin, who is from Castlederg. The case is now being treated as a formal investigation. Ms Rankin, aged 31, was last seen at around 9:30 am on Friday, June 5, 2026, near Castle Archdale Marina in Lisnarick. At the time, she was wearing black leggings and a dark-coloured top. A major search operation was launched involving the Coastguard, the Community Rescue Service, Foyle Search and Rescue, and the RNLI. The search was coordinated by a Police Search Adviser and covered a large area of Lower Lough Erne. Police have not yet confirmed how Ms Rankin died. A post-mortem examination will take place. The results will help determine the cause of death. At this stage, police have not classified the case as suspicious. They are keeping an open mind until the post-mortem report is complete. Local politicians have expressed their sympathy for the family. West Tyrone MLA Tom Buchanan said it has been a very difficult time for Ms Rankin's family. He thanked the search teams for their work. Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Deborah Erskine said the news brings great sadness but allows the family to begin grieving. Police are still asking for information. They want to hear from anyone who was in the Lower Lough Erne area on the morning of June 5. Anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
