Joint funeral prayers for the British-Bangladeshi mother and her teenage daughter who tragically drowned off the Essex coast will take place tomorrow, Saturday, following the 1:30 PM Zuhr congregational prayer at the East London Mosque on Whitechapel Road.
Speaking directly to daily dazzling dawn, Mujibur Rahman Mujib, the father of the deceased mother and former Vice President of UK BNP, confirmed the final arrangements for the Janaza of his daughter, 41-year-old Shalina (Shelly) Rahman, and his 15-year-old granddaughter, Sameeha Rahman.

Requesting heartfelt prayers and supplications from the wider public, Mr. Rahman shared that the entire extended family remains paralyzed by grief following the sudden loss. He revealed that his wife was also present on the seafront when the tragedy unfolded during a family trip to West Mersea, a seaside location the family frequently visited.
The tragic event occurred on Wednesday evening off Seaview Avenue when 15-year-old Sameeha and her mother bravely entered treacherous waters in a desperate effort to rescue Sameeha’s seven-year-old cousin. The young boy had become trapped when a submerged sandbank unexpectedly gave way beneath the family under the pull of a rapid high tide. While mother and daughter tragically lost their lives in the rescue attempt, the seven-year-old boy was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital, where he remains in critical condition on life support.
The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of sympathy across the British-Bangladeshi community in Barking and East London, as well as in their ancestral region of Dakshin Surma in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Community leaders, relatives, and members of the public are expected to gather at the East London Mosque on Saturday afternoon following the 1:30 PM prayer to pay their final respects and offer support to the grieving family.
