A 48-year-old man has been formally charged with murder and attempted murder following the fatal stabbing of 52-year-old Samantha Turner inside an upstairs residential flat on Askew Road in Shepherd’s Bush. Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics were dispatched to the property near the Chiswick border shortly before 8:20 am on Tuesday, 18 August 2026. Emergency teams discovered Samantha Turner alongside a 32-year-old woman, both suffering from severe knife wounds. Despite immediate medical intervention at the scene, the 52-year-old victim was pronounced dead. The surviving 32-year-old woman was transported to a West London hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where she remains under assessment.

Metropolitan Police officers sealed off a wide section of Askew Road immediately after arriving, maintaining an extensive cordon throughout Tuesday as forensic investigators examined the premises. A forensic tent was erected outside the address while specialist teams conducted systematic searches across the street and surrounding entry points. Alan Dore, aged 48, born 3 April 1978 and resident of nearby Askew Crescent, Shepherd’s Bush, was detained directly at the scene by responding officers.

Daily Dazzling Dawn understands that following comprehensive inquiries by the Specialist Crime Command, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised formal charges on Wednesday, 19 August 2026. Alan Dore was charged with the murder of Samantha Turner and the attempted murder of the 32-year-old injured victim. The defendant remains in custody and is scheduled to make his first appearance at Hendon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 20 August 2026.

Detective Inspector Richard MacKenzie, who is leading the Metropolitan Police investigation, confirmed that specialist family liaison officers continue to support Samantha Turner’s relatives. Investigators indicated that the fatal attack is believed to be an isolated incident contained within the residential flat, posing no wider threat to the public.

Daily Dazzling Dawn learned that officers have maintained an increased presence in the Askew Road neighbourhood to reassure local residents while forensic analysis continues. Detectives are urging anyone with private CCTV, video doorbell recordings, or vehicle dashcam footage captured around Askew Road on Tuesday morning to come forward. Members of the public can contact the police directly on 101 quoting reference 1673/18AUG, or provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The initial hearing at Hendon Magistrates’ Court initiates the statutory legal proceedings against Alan Dore. Under English criminal procedure, charges of murder and attempted murder are indictable-only offences that cannot be tried in a magistrates' court. Following administrative identity verification and remand procedures, the magistrates will formally transfer the proceedings to the Crown Court for plea hearings and future trial scheduling.
