Three Arrested After Young Man Dies Following Newcastle Stabbing

Three people have been arrested after a 20-year-old man died from a stab wound following a car crash in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

Jamie Evans, from Stone, was found injured after police were called to Orme Road shortly after 5pm on Friday, September 4, following reports of a collision. He was taken to hospital after suffering a stab wound but died a short time later despite efforts by paramedics.

Staffordshire Police has launched a murder investigation and confirmed that three men have been arrested in connection with the death.

A 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody and are continuing to be questioned after officers were granted additional time.

A third man, aged 19 and also from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. He remains in custody.

The arrests come as detectives continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident on Orme Road and what happened before and after the crash.

Police have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or holds information that could assist the investigation to come forward.

Jamie’s family paid tribute to him on Sunday, describing him as a wonderful son, loving brother and devoted uncle whose life was filled with energy and enthusiasm.

In a statement, the family said Jamie was passionate about cricket and fitness and enjoyed staying active, challenging himself and spending time doing the things he loved.

They described him as having a "zest for life" and said that, although his life had been tragically cut short, the love, laughter and memories he created would remain with those who knew him.

The family added that Jamie would be "deeply loved, profoundly missed and never forgotten".

They also thanked members of the public who went to Jamie’s aid and attempted to help him following the incident.

Staffordshire Police said specially trained officers are continuing to support Jamie’s family as the investigation progresses.

Detectives are working to establish the full circumstances of the stabbing and the connection between the incident and the reported car crash on Orme Road.

The force has urged anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anything suspicious in the area or has relevant information to contact investigators.
