A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Thursday (December 25) at 11:40 am.
Earlier, the same Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft landed at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet at 9:55 am. After nearly an hour of ground turnaround in Sylhet, the flight departed for Dhaka at 11:04 am.
Tarique Rahman departed London for Dhaka aboard the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight shortly after 12:15 am on Wednesday night. He is accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and their daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman. Approximately 50 BNP leaders and activists are also returning to Bangladesh on the same Biman flight.
After 17 years, the BNP’s acting chairman has returned to the country. A bulletproof vehicle was brought to the airport in advance for his arrival, with the vehicle arriving at the premises shortly before 7:00 am. He will use this vehicle for airport transfer and all scheduled movements.
Earlier, on Wednesday (December 24) at around 10:15 pm Bangladesh time, Tarique Rahman arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport, accompanied by leaders and activists of UK BNP, before boarding the Biman flight to Bangladesh.
According to BNP sources, after a brief stay at the airport’s VIP lounge “Rajonigandha”, he will travel by road via Kuril to a reception stage set up in the 300 Feet area. He is scheduled to deliver a short speech there and remain until 3:40 pm.
From the 300 Feet area, he will proceed directly to Evercare Hospital, where he will spend about an hour from 4:10 pm with his ailing mother and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. After leaving the hospital, he will head to his residence at 196 Gulshan Avenue, known as “Firoza.”
