Flights from Gatwick cancelled, 3 London train lines closed

Summer vacations are off to a rocky start, with severe travel delays and cancellations on roads, trains, and airports this weekend.

Arson assaults on the French rail network hours before the Olympics began on Friday resulted in the cancellation of one out of every four trains across the Channel, with Eurostar passengers advised to postpone their trips if possible.

Although trains from the UK to France were quite regular, passengers seeking to return home faced lengthy delays. Drivers were also inconvenienced, with routes to Devon and Cornwall in the South West jammed with traffic, resulting in two-hour delays.

Yesterday, Heathrow cancelled flights, including some to the United States.

Airports have been struggling with the sheer weight of passengers, with long queues also seen in Manchester.

In London, the Piccadilly and Waterloo & City Tube lines are under part closures, as is the Overground. TfL is reporting that the DLR is also part suspended today.
