Riot Police on Standby Over Immigration Centre Violence Fears
More than 2,200 specialized riot officers are being kept on alert in anticipation of reports that far-right extremists intend to attack over 30 immigration hubs throughout the United Kingdom.
Four thousand trained public order officers had already been called into action by police to deal with the unrest and violence that was sweeping Britain.
However, since there is no indication that the turmoil will end, police chiefs have increased the force by 2,200 officers.
They can be called upon to assist colleagues both locally and regionally, and they will be on call throughout the nation.
The move comes amid fears that extremists are planning to target dozens of law centres which specialise in helping those seeking help with asylum applications.
A list of at least 39 centres offering immigration services across England is believed to have circulated among far right groups.
Police confirmed that intelligence sources had identified at least 30 hotspots where trouble could flare on Wednesday.
