October 07, 2024
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has unveiled new guidelines for Umrah pilgrims.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia has released new regulations for Umrah travelers that put an emphasis on physical health and security. All participants should have a smoother and more comfortable pilgrimage experience thanks to these upgrades.

Put your attention on comfort and physical fitness

Travelers are urged by the government to concentrate on their physical preparedness, particularly foot care. In non-prayer courtyards, pilgrims have to wear comfortable footwear and refrain from going barefoot for extended periods of time. To avoid fatigue and preserve energy throughout the journey, regular rest intervals are also crucial. Sustenance and Drinking Water for Pilgrims An essential component to Umrah's success is maintaining adequate nutrition and hydration. It is recommended that pilgrims stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and avoiding heavy meals. Getting enough sleep and being hydrated are essential for preserving energy levels during the holy rites.

Nutrition and Hydration for Pilgrims

Proper nutrition and hydration play a critical role in the success of Umrah. Pilgrims are advised to avoid heavy meals and drink plenty of water to stay energized. Sufficient rest and hydration are key to maintaining stamina during the sacred rituals.

Umrah Visa Extended to 90 Days

In a bid to accommodate more visitors, Saudi Arabia has extended the Umrah visa duration from 30 days to 90 days. Pilgrims can now enter the Kingdom via any land, sea, or air route and exit through any airport, making the process more convenient.

Female pilgrims can now perform Umrah without a male guardian, a significant change aimed at empowering women in their spiritual journey.

Easier Access to Religious Sites

Pilgrims with personal, visit, or tourism visas can now visit Al Rawda Al Sharifa at the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. However, they must secure an e-appointment. Additionally, Saudi citizens can invite friends from abroad to join them on this spiritual journey.

Saudi Arabia is preparing to host 15 million Umrah pilgrims next year, an increase from the 13.5 million Muslims who performed the pilgrimage last year.

Strict Health Guidelines for Hajj 2025

In August, the Kingdom announced strict health measures for Hajj 2025. Only physically fit individuals will be allowed to perform Hajj due to anticipated extreme weather conditions.

Pilgrims with severe medical conditions, such as serious heart, lung, or kidney diseases, and those with contagious diseases like tuberculosis, are barred from participating. Mandatory vaccinations for meningitis, COVID-19, seasonal flu, and polio will also be required.

The Kingdom’s focus on health, extended visa durations, and simplified processes highlight its commitment to enhancing the spiritual journey for Muslims worldwide.
