More than 22 tonnes of cheddar have been reported stolen during an alleged scam by a cheese producer based in London. Neal's Yard Dairy claimed that before realizing what had transpired, it had shipped over 950 wheels of cheddar to the suspected scammer who was acting as a wholesale distributor for a significant French shop.In order to spare the cheese's makers from having to pay the price "despite the significant financial blow," the business claimed to have continued to pay Hafod, Westcombe, and Pitchfork.
