As an increasing number of Muslims travel to Mecca during Ramadan to perform Umrah at the Grand Mosque, Saudi authorities have emphasized the use of an app that provides real-time updates on crowd levels.
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that pilgrims can utilize the Nusuk app, which features a color-coded indicator to track congestion levels. This allows worshippers to choose less crowded times for a more comfortable and seamless pilgrimage experience.
Each color on the app signifies a specific level of crowding: green indicates light traffic, yellow represents moderate congestion, and red shows heavy crowding.
Ramadan, a month of intense devotion, is traditionally the peak season for Umrah at the Grand Mosque.
Ahead of this sacred month, Saudi authorities have mobilized all necessary resources to accommodate the influx of pilgrims in Mecca, ensuring they can carry out their rituals comfortably and efficiently.
Nusuk allows Muslims planning to perform Umrah or visit the holy sites in Saudi Arabia to apply for visas and book related packages online.
Additionally, the platform facilitates the booking of permits and appointments for Umrah and visits to the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, Islam’s second holiest site, for international pilgrims who have obtained an entry visa through electronic processes available 24/7.
