BNP Acting Chairman Mr. Tarique Rahman unlikely to return to Bangladesh for now. He may return to the country just before the election process starts or after announcing the election schedule. But Begum Khaleda Zia is eager to return to the country after Ramadan. More than one trusted source close to Tarek Rahman in London informed Daily Dazzling Dawn.
Tarique Rahman's wife, Dr. Zobaida Rahman, and her elder sister, Shahina Zaman Bindu, have a house in Baridhara DOHS by inheritance. This house was found on the basis of Tarek Rahman's father-in-law's former minister, Navy chief, and Tarek Rahman's father-in-law, Rear Admiral (retd) Mahbub Ali Khan. Mahbub Ali Khan died in Dhaka in 1984 at the age of 49. This house was lying unused for a long time. Tarique Rahman, with his wife, wants to return to Dhaka and live in this house. With this aim, major renovation work is going on in the house. Many parts of the house, including the kitchen and bathroom, are being worked on in a modern design. In response to the question of when Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman would return to Bangladesh, UK BNP president MA Malek told Daily Dazzling Dawn, Madam is interested in returning to her own country as soon as possible rather than spending time with her family members. She wants to go back to Bangladesh after Eid. And about when Tarique Rahman's return to Bangladesh, he said, Tarique Rahman will return before the election process begins. All preparations are going on, including the house in Dhaka. Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain, Begum Zia's physician and a member of the party's standing committee, has commented that BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country before the next parliamentary elections. He told reporters about Mr. Rahman's return to the country; it is only a matter of time. Dr. Zahid also said about Khaleda Zia's return, Begum Khaleda Zia will return very soon on the advice of the doctor.
Tarique Rahman acquitted in all trials; no barrier to returning home- A Dhaka court acquitted BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar, and six others on bribery charges related to an attempt to achieve impunity in a murder case. Judge Md Abu Taher of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 issued the decision yesterday morning, according to defense counsels Borhan Uddin and Aminul Gani Titu. Following the ruling, BNP legal representatives stated that there are no current proceedings against Tarique Rahman or Babar in trial courts.
