Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is aiming to return to Bangladesh from London soon but date is not confirmed yet, contingent on her health remaining stable, according to sources. Her late son, Arafat Rahman Koko’s wife, Syeda Shamila Rahman, who is with her, may also travel back. Doctors have indicated that Zia's condition is currently stable. In a move to facilitate her return, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has written to Mo. Touhid Hossain, requesting a special Qatari air ambulance. The letter detailed that while Zia is in London for advanced medical care, and her health is stable, it is not without risks. She has expressed a strong desire to return to Bangladesh before the end of April, and medical professionals have recommended a specialized air ambulance for the journey. Attempts to reach Her doctor for the latest updates on Zia’s health and the progress of her return were unsuccessful.
Begum Khaleda Zia traveled to London for advanced medical treatment. Reports indicate that she has been suffering from various health complications, including liver cirrhosis, kidney and heart issues, diabetes, and arthritis. She was admitted to The London Clinic for treatment. After being discharged from the hospital she then moved to her eldest son Mr Tarique Rahman's home in London. Reports indicate that her health is currently considered stable, although it is also noted that her condition is not considered risk free.
Following reports of Khaleda Zia's potential return to Bangladesh this month, UK BNP Secretary Koysar M Ahmed has informed Daily Dazzling Dawn that a definitive return date has not yet been confirmed. While acknowledging her desire to return and the efforts being made, Ahmed stressed that the final decision will depend on Khaleda Zia's health condition and the logistical arrangements, including the availability of the specialized air ambulance that has been requested. He indicated that the party would provide further updates as soon as a firm date for her return is established.
