Dr. Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, is expected to return to London swiftly, according to multiple sources. This comes after she successfully had a case against her settled and her government job reinstated in Bangladesh.

Dr. Rahman's return to London was previously delayed due to the illness of her mother, Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, in addition to her mother-in-law. However, with a slight improvement in her mother's condition, she is now set to rejoin her family, husband, and children in London without further delay.

Sources close to Tarique Rahman in London further clarified that Dr. Zubaida Rahman had returned to Bangladesh leaving her husband in London, primarily due to the severe illnesses of both her mother and mother-in-law. Otherwise, she would have returned to Bangladesh alongside her husband. It is also understood that when Tarique Rahman eventually returns to Bangladesh, Dr. Zubaida will accompany him.

This development follows a significant High Court verdict yesterday, Wednesday, May 28, that acquitted Dr. Zubaida Rahman and her husband Tarique Rahman from a three-year sentence in a case concerning concealment of wealth information and acquisition of assets beyond known sources of income. The single High Court bench of Justice Md. Khosruzzaman granted Dr. Zubaida Rahman's appeal against the trial court's verdict.
