Lifetime Ban for Muslim Desi Teacher Farooq Ahmed After 'Deliberate' Ruler Assault on Bradford Pupil

A veteran Muslim Desi teacher, Farooq Ahmed, 58, has been issued an indefinite prohibition order—a lifetime ban—from teaching in England following a classroom assault on two pupils at an academy in Bradford, Daily Dazzling Dawn understands.

The disciplinary action by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA), whose full report was released yesterday, concluded that Mr Ahmed's conduct "fell significantly short of the standards expected of the profession" after he was found guilty of striking one student with a ruler and assaulting a second by pushing and kicking their chair.

The incident, which occurred on 24 November 2023, at Oasis Academy Lister Park, was captured on CCTV, providing the crucial evidence that led to the severe penalty. The panel's findings note that the footage clearly showed a "deliberate flicking movement of the ruler" towards a student identified as Pupil B. This contradicted Mr Ahmed’s defence during the investigation, where he claimed a ruler he was holding “may have brushed” the student’s hand.

Mr. Ahmed's brief tenure at the academy began on 1 September 2023, and he was suspended just two days after the incident on 27 November.

The official report details that two female students first alerted the school’s assistant principal about the assault. The investigation later confirmed two separate acts of physical contact: Mr Ahmed was found to have pushed and/or kicked a chair on which a student (Pupil A) was sitting, and subsequently hit a second student (Pupil B) with a ruler.

Following a referral by the school, West Yorkshire Police issued Mr. Ahmed a conditional caution for assault by beating on 15 January 2024. Remarkably, he resigned from his teaching post on the very same day.

The TRA professional conduct panel, which convened last month, highlighted the seriousness of the breach, stating that Mr Ahmed had violated the "responsibilities and duties set out in statutory guidance ‘Keeping children safe in education’." While the report noted that Mr. Ahmed was apologetic, the panel determined that his actions demonstrated a "considerable risk" to the teaching profession.

The indefinite ban means the 58-year-old teacher cannot work in any regulated teaching capacity. He is, however, entitled to request a review of the prohibition order after a period of two years. The ban took immediate effect upon the release of the final decision on 9 October 2025. The case underscores the critical role of school CCTV in safeguarding and the zero-tolerance stance of regulatory bodies on physical force against pupils.
