Actor Ilias Kanchan Undergoing Five-Day Weekly Therapy in London

The latest physical condition of Bangladeshi film star and 'Nirapad Sarak Chai' (We Want Safe Roads) movement organiser, Ilias Kanchan, who is currently undergoing treatment in London, has been shared by his family members, including his son-in-law Ariful Islam, his former co-actress and now UK resident Sonia, and leaders of the UK chapter of the road safety movement.

Ilias Kanchan is receiving treatment for a brain tumour in London. It is known that he has been in London for treatment for more than six months. His treatment is taking place while staying at the residence of his only daughter, Israt Jahan. On Thursday, his son-in-law Ariful Islam spoke about Ilias Kanchan's latest physical condition.

On Thursday afternoon, to mark 'Nirapad Sarak Chai Day', the UK branch of the organisation founded by the renowned actor organised a Doa Mahfil in East London for his recovery.

Following the Doa Mahfil, Ariful Islam informed that the acclaimed actor goes to the hospital from home five days a week, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, to receive therapy before returning home. He is receiving targeted radiotherapy.

Actress Sonia said that doctors have advised him to talk less. His physical condition is better than before. Prayers were sought from everyone for his complete recovery.

Idris Ali, born on December 24, 1956, and popularly known as Ilias Kanchan, is a celebrated Bangladeshi film and television actor, freedom fighter, and the founding president of the 'Nirapad Sarak Chai' organisation, as well as a former president of the Bangladesh Film Artists' Association. He began his film career in 1977 with the movie Bashundhara. He was a popular film actor in the Bangladeshi cinema of the nineties. Kanchan has acted in over 300 films. His film Beder Meye Josna (1989) is still recognised as the most commercially successful and popular film in Bangladesh. He has won the National Film Award and the Bachsas Award multiple times.
