The legal proceedings regarding the death of 35-year-old father-of-two Suhail Choudry reached a critical milestone on Thursday, March 19, 2026. During a hearing presided over by the Honorary Recorder of Bradford, Judge Jonathan Rose, the court formally transitioned the case toward a full criminal trial following a series of "not guilty" pleas.

In a significant development, Rashid Hussain, 41, and Majid Hussain, 42, both formally denied the charge of murder. The remaining three defendants—Mohammed Aliyan Khan, 23, Faisal Khan, 26, and Hakeem Gulzar, 27—also appeared as part of the unified "Joint Enterprise" indictment. All five men remain charged with murder, violent disorder, and possession of offensive weapons in a public place. They have been remanded in custody pending their next appearance.

Addressing the complexity of the case, Judge Rose vacated previous provisional dates to set a firm trial commencement for January 25, 2027. The trial is expected to last between four and six weeks, a timeline necessitated by the extensive digital and forensic evidence file. This evidence, which the prosecution must disclose by the summer, includes comprehensive cell-site analysis and CCTV footage used to track the movements of the suspects and Mr. Choudry’s Toyota Prius on the night of the attack.

While the primary defendants have now entered the judicial system, West Yorkshire Police (HMET) confirmed that the wider investigation remains active. Several other individuals, including a 37-year-old man arrested earlier this month, remain under investigation, though no further murder charges were formally added to the indictment during yesterday’s proceedings. Individuals previously arrested for "assisting an offender" remain on conditional bail with strict restrictions.

Suhail Choudry passed away on February 11, three days after being found with catastrophic head injuries on Flasby Street. His widow, Zara Choudry, who is expecting their third child, continues to be supported by Family Liaison Officers. Her public appeal remains a cornerstone of the investigation: "If you have any information, no matter how big or small, please contact the police." West Yorkshire Police reiterate that the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) remains open for any residents who may have captured footage of the incident or the vehicles involved.
