Schengen Entry Warning for Bangladeshis
The embassies of the Schengen countries in Dhaka have advised Bangladeshi travelers to always carry all valid travel documents — including visas, travel insurance, hotel bookings, and supporting papers — when entering Schengen member states.

In a statement issued on Monday (June 11), the Schengen embassies in Dhaka reminded Bangladeshi citizens that while a visa grants permission to travel, the final decision on entry into any Schengen country rests with border police authorities. Travelers are therefore strongly encouraged to keep all required documents with them at all times so officials can verify information if needed.

Earlier, on May 4, the Schengen embassies in Dhaka also issued a joint warning through their verified Facebook pages, urging Bangladeshi nationals not to overstay after their visa expires.

The statement warned that violating visa conditions could lead to future visa refusals or entry bans across Schengen countries. Authorities stressed that anyone remaining in a Schengen country after their visa validity ends may face restrictions on future travel and entry.

The Schengen Area consists of 29 European countries that allow travel for up to 90 days under a single visa system. Member states generally permit passport-free movement across internal borders.

Major Schengen countries include Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, and Poland. Non-EU countries such as Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein are also part of the Schengen agreement.

The advisory is particularly important for travelers from Bangladesh planning tourism, business, or family visits across Europe.
