A man in his 20s is fighting for his life after a violent attack at Charing Cross Underground station in central London, with three men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Emergency services rushed to the station during the early hours of Sunday after reports of a serious assault. The victim suffered life-threatening head injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains in intensive care. Police said his family has been informed.

According to the British Transport Police, the victim first encountered a group of men outside a nightclub on Villiers Street at around 4:55am. About 20 minutes later, he reportedly crossed paths with the same group outside a McDonald’s on Charing Cross Road, where an exchange of words took place.
Police said there was another confrontation at the Underground station around 5:34am before the man was assaulted.
Three men aged 18, 20 and 24 were later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody as investigations continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Stanley described the incident as a “shocking act of violence” and appealed for witnesses or anyone with mobile phone footage from the area to come forward.
Investigators are working to establish the events leading up to the attack. Police added there is currently no indication that the assault was hate-related.
