Convicted killer Hashim Uddin has ignited severe gangland tensions across Glasgow after openly frequenting local fitness centres and hospitality venues despite a six-figure contract on his head. The 31-year-old figure, who was sentenced to six years' imprisonment at the High Court in Glasgow in 2021 for the culpable homicide of his brother-in-law Omer Sadiq, secured early release earlier this year. Underworld intelligence indicates that an initial £50,000 bounty on Uddin was recently doubled to £100,000 following escalating public confrontations and standoffs with associates linked to his former victim.
Despite active threat-to-life warnings, Uddin has maintained a prominent presence across Glasgow’s Southside, particularly around the Gorbals and Pollokshields. Security sources and eyewitnesses report that Uddin divides much of his routine between private gyms, fitness clubs, and popular shisha lounges. He travels with dedicated lookouts stationed outside venues to scan approaching vehicles and monitor street traffic.
Uddin has reportedly adopted a brazen posture in public spaces, asserting to associates that he has resumed regular business operations without concern for retribution. Local reports suggest he has also attempted to forge informal security arrangements with venue operators, intensifying friction across local commercial strips and criminal networks.
The Boydstone Path Homicide- The deadly feud stems from the killing of 32-year-old Omer Sadiq on Tuesday, 15 September 2020, at a residential flat on Boydstone Path in Pollok. The High Court heard that Sadiq had gone to the property to intervene in a domestic dispute after learning that Uddin intended to leave his wife, Iqraa Malik.
The confrontation escalated when an argument broke out over a dog brought into the premises. Uddin grabbed a hunting knife and stabbed Sadiq twice, inflicting fatal injuries. Sadiq died shortly after in the hospital. The Crown subsequently accepted Uddin’s guilty plea to culpable homicide, and trial judge Lord Mulholland handed down a six-year prison sentence.
Retaliation Campaign and Lyons Syndicate Alliance- Sadiq's death provoked immediate and violent retaliation across Strathclyde. Because Sadiq maintained strong affiliations with the Daniel organised crime clan, his killing triggered a coordinated underworld response against Uddin’s familial and criminal circle. A subsequent High Court trial saw nine men—including the victim's brother Kashif Sadiq—prosecuted over a string of retaliatory strikes involving petrol bombings, machete ambushes, vehicle arsons, and covert GPS tracking devices attached to targets' vehicles.
Facing severe retribution from Daniel-aligned factions upon his release, Uddin moved to secure protection from the rival Lyons crime syndicate. Underworld sources indicate Uddin offered critical logistics, intelligence on rival distribution pipelines, and local street backing to secure protection from the Lyons family against the £100,000 bounty.
Police Scotland continues to monitor gangland activity closely across the city's southern corridors to suppress potential violence. Uddin's continued public appearances—compounded by a recent high-profile confrontation with Sadiq’s relatives at a private wedding event—have left the Southside on high alert as authorities work to prevent an open gangland conflict.
