A 15-year-old youth has appeared before the Central Criminal Court, the Old Bailey, charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old David Wynter inside Brent Civic Centre in Wembley.

The attack unfolded shortly before 2:30 pm on Tuesday at the council’s multi-agency headquarters on Engineers Way. Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived at the scene near Wembley Stadium to find David Wynter suffering from catastrophic blade wounds. Paramedics attempted life-saving treatment, but the teenager was pronounced dead inside the public facility.

Detectives launched an immediate homicide investigation and arrested the 15-year-old suspect hours after the incident. The accused, who cannot be legally named due to statutory youth reporting restrictions, was charged with murder alongside possession of a bladed article in a public place. Following a brief preliminary appearance at Willesden Magistrates’ Court where he confirmed only his basic personal details, the magistrates remanded him in custody and sent the case directly to the Old Bailey.

The violent incident led to an extensive emergency deployment, with around 15 police and emergency vehicles cordoning off the civic building while council staff, library visitors, and residents looked on. The Metropolitan Police subsequently authorised a Section 60 order across Wembley Park and surrounding Brent wards to enhance stop-and-search powers and prevent further public disorder.

Brent Council Leader Muhammed Butt described the event as an appalling tragedy that severely impacted the local community, staff, and visitors who witnessed the aftermath. Specially trained family liaison officers continue to support David Wynter’s family as the legal proceedings move forward through the Crown Court.
