Sir Keir Starmer has announced that he will stand down as the Member of Parliament for Holborn and St Pancras, ending an 11-year period representing the London constituency and triggering a by-election. In a statement to the Camden New Journal released on Tuesday, Sir Keir said it had been a “huge honour and privilege” to serve the people of Holborn and St Pancras since first being elected to Parliament.

Sir Keir said he hoped to continue pursuing the issue after leaving the House of Commons, alongside his planned work on international affairs.
