The dismantling of a sophisticated network responsible for flooding British streets with Class A narcotics and military-grade weaponry achieved a major milestone at Birmingham Crown Court. Rizwan Malik, a 43-year-old resident of Small Heath, was sentenced to ten years and three months in prison. His conviction stems from his pivotal role as an arms courier for one of the region's most volatile organised crime groups.
The investigation, closely tracked by the Daily Dazzling Dawn, exposed how Malik acted as a critical logistical link for syndicate kingpin Danyal Aziz. In April 2020, under the illusion of total digital anonymity, Malik utilised the encrypted communication network EncroChat to coordinate the delivery of three Walther Creed 9mm self-loading semi-automatic pistols.
Surveillance operations and recovered CCTV footage captured Malik arriving in a commercial van at Sapphire Heights in Hockley—a residential complex repurposed as a command base for the syndicate. There, Malik transferred the lethal cargo to Michael Earp, a high-ranking associate of the enterprise.
While Malik’s defense sought to frame his involvement as isolated, the broader judicial context reveals a network operating with a terrifying capacity for violence. The kingpin, Danyal Aziz, was previously sentenced to 33 years in prison in October 2023 after prosecutors proved his intent to use these specific firearms to protect his multi-million-pound heroin and cocaine empire.
The tentacles of the conspiracy extended deep into regular residential neighborhoods. During coordinated raids by the National Crime Agency (NCA), officers uncovered an array of combat weaponry, including a lethal Skorpion submachine gun hidden beneath a bed in Bordesley Green. The discovery highlighted the syndicate's readiness to execute maximum violence against rival factions. Subsequent trials saw Michael Earp jailed for 26 years, while another courier, Nicole Rhone, received a five-year sentence for her role in storing the syndicate's hardware.
