Putin: ‘We’ll Expel the Enemy
The unexpected border invasion by Ukraine has prompted Vladimir Putin to promise to "kick the enemy out of our territory."
The conflict inside Russia's Kursk and Belgorod areas was the topic of discussion when the Russian president made these remarks during a meeting with senior security officials.
"The primary objective of the Defense Ministry is to drive the adversary from our land," stated Putin.
He continued, "Ukraine has fought to strengthen its negotiating position." The Russian president added that while Ukraine was preparing the attack, the West had disregarded a call for a truce.
Nearly a week ago, Ukraine started its swift incursion into Russian territory, overcoming barriers and progressing up to 20 km in certain areas.
In an indication that they want to stay, Kyiv's forces are now seen constructing fortifications inside the Kursk region, including trenches and a field hospital.
