Ukraine Captures Major Russian Town; Ex-President Explains Troops in Russia
Although the last week has seen a shift in attention toward Russia's Kursk region invasion, fighting has persisted along Ukraine's eastern frontline.
There has been intense combat in the eastern Donetsk area of Ukraine, close to the city of Pokrovsk.
An officer in the 59th Motorized Brigade, Serhiy Tsehotskiy, stated that Russia has not abated its pressure in the partially-occupied Donetsk, where it has been concentrating its attacks for several months.
"The enemy, despite what is happening on the territory of Russia, is still... keeping the bulk of its troops in this direction and trying to achieve success," he stated.
According to military spokesman Dmytro Lykhoviy, Russia has relocated some troops from the south of Ukraine that it has occupied, but as of right now, this hasn't amounted to a significant redeployment.
"No significant changes in the size of the group were detected, and the number of the personnel is not changing enough to indicate any differences or weakening in... hostilities," he stated.
The number of battles between Kyiv's and Moscow's forces on the front near Pokrovsk, according to the Ukrainian military's General Staff, was 58, the most for any one day this month.
