Over 100 people were reportedly evacuated from the building as forty fire engines and roughly 225 firemen battled a fire at a complex of apartments in Dagenham, east London.
The ground floor, roof and a portion of the scaffolding encircling the building on Freshwater Road were all on fire, according to the London Fire Brigade (LFB).
At the location of the incident, station commander Alan Bendell reported that the fire was "producing heavy smoke" and that the locals should "keep windows and doors closed."
Bendell stated, "Freshwater Road is closed to traffic, so please avoid the area where possible. Two of the Brigade's 32-meter turntable ladders are being used at the scene as aerial water towers to assist with tackling the fire from height."
