Record with 500,000 Umrah Pilgrims in 1 DaySaudi Arabia Records Highest Single-Day Umrah Attendance with 500,000 Pilgrims.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has announced that Saudi Arabia has set a new record for Umrah attendance, with 500,000 pilgrims entering the Grand Mosque in a single day on Thursday.
To enhance operational efficiency and manage the flow of worshippers, the presidency has implemented advanced monitoring technologies. These include reader sensors at the main entrances, which provide real-time tracking of the number of visitors. Additionally, smart cameras have been installed to monitor movement and identify congestion points with high accuracy.
The integration of these sensors with AI-powered surveillance allows for immediate crowd analysis, helping authorities efficiently distribute pilgrims, particularly in densely populated areas such as the Mataf (the circumambulation space around the Kaaba) and Mas’a (the pathway between Safa and Marwah).
These technological advancements play a crucial role in ensuring visitor safety, regulating the entry and exit process, and enabling swift responses during peak periods. The new monitoring system recorded the highest single-day attendance of Umrah performers, reaching nearly half a million pilgrims.
Alongside these innovations, security patrols in Mecca are actively working to maintain safety and order, especially during Ramadan, when the number of visitors surges. In coordination with other security agencies, officers manage large crowds, assist the elderly, help reunite lost children with their families, and provide guidance to pilgrims in need.
Security teams continue their round-the-clock efforts to ensure a smooth and secure experience for all worshippers at the Grand Mosque during this sacred period.
