Umrah pilgrims benefit from new hair-cutting service at Mecca's Grand Mosque

Over 150,000 Umrah pilgrims have benefited from a newly introduced hair-cutting service at Mecca’s Grand Mosque, allowing them to exit the state of Ihram during Ramadan, according to the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.

Launched as a pilot program on the first day of Ramadan, the service enables pilgrims to complete the Ihram-exit ritual within the mosque’s courtyard for the first time.

Traditionally performed outside the sacred site, the mandatory haircut for concluding Umrah is now available at 12 designated stations near the Marwa area.

Equipped with mobile salon units, the Presidency has assigned 112 staff members and provided fully sterilized tools to cater to both male and female pilgrims.

The initiative aims to reduce congestion and enhance the spiritual experience, particularly during the peak days of Ramadan.

Beyond the hair-cutting service, the Presidency reported that 836,574 pilgrims benefited from various cart services in the first 21 days of Ramadan.

This included 643,364 users of electric golf carts, 168,228 utilizing advanced paid carts, and 24,982 availing free manual carts.
