A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region on Saturday afternoon, causing tremors to be felt across northern India.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 12:17 PM IST at a depth of 86 kilometers.
Residents in parts of northern India, including Kashmir and Delhi-NCR, reported feeling mild to moderate tremors, sparking panic in some areas.
Regarding the Mustafabad building collapse, CM Rekha Gupta expressed her sorrow in a tweet, saying, "Deeply saddened by the tragic building collapse in Mustafabad. A thorough investigation has been ordered, and strict action will be taken against those responsible. Relief and rescue operations by DDMA, NDRF, DFS, and other agencies are ongoing. Proper medical care has been arranged for all the injured.
