As concerns mount regarding the deteriorating health of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, her family is actively preparing to transfer her abroad for advanced medical intervention. Plans are currently in motion to fly her to either London or Singapore, though the final decision remains strictly contingent upon whether her physical condition can withstand the extreme strain of a long-distance journey.

The development was confirmed on Saturday during a conversation with Maruf Kamal Khan, the Editor of the Daily Protidiner Bangladesh. Khan, a seasoned political analyst and the former Press Secretary to the BNP Chairperson, detailed the gravity of the situation while speaking with this reporter.

While administrative efforts to secure her transfer are underway, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over the feasibility of the travel given her fragile state. Addressing the situation publicly, Maruf Kamal Khan posted a detailed status on Facebook on Saturday, providing a grim update on the former Premier's condition.

In his statement regarding her health, Khan wrote:

"As far as I know, up until the last report, there has been no mentionable improvement in Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia's physical condition. Suffering from various complex diseases, Madam Zia was admitted to the capital's Evercare Hospital after developing pneumonia and other serious complications. Due to infections in her heart and lungs, she is suffering from respiratory distress, and fluid has accumulated in her pancreas and kidneys, which doctors are removing at considerable risk. She is currently in the Coronary Care Unit under constant, intensive observation by physicians."

The medical board at Evercare Hospital is leaving no stone unturned, maintaining round-the-clock online communication with specialist physicians from the United Kingdom, the United States, and China to determine the best course of action.

Khan further elaborated on the logistical preparations for her potential transfer. "Her son residing in the UK, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, along with other family members, are keen to take her to London or Singapore for coordinated advanced treatment. There is also a proposal from China to take her there. On behalf of the family and the party, contacts are being made in Kuwait and Singapore for an air ambulance," Khan stated.

However, the execution of these plans rests entirely on the immediate assessment of her stability. "Everything depends on the Deshnetri's latest physical condition and the permission of the medical team. They may give a decision in this regard today," Khan added in his social media post.

In light of these critical developments, Begum Zia’s family, the party, and well-wishers have issued a broad appeal for prayers. Citizens across the nation, transcending religious and political divides, are fervently praying for the recovery and safety of the former Prime Minister.

Speaking to this reporter on Saturday afternoon, UK BNP General Secretary Koysor M Ahmed stated, 'We seek the prayers of everyone, both at home and abroad, for our Madam.' He declined further comments.
